OUR ETHOS
It’s a commonly used word, but it’s our ethos and the philosophy that we live by – we really do believe there’s always a solution with a touch of pragmatism. It’s what we say and it’s what we do.
When it comes to people there’s never a fixed solution. We firmly believe that no theory, policy or law will ever give you the best answer – every situation is different, hence the need for being pragmatic.
Often situations which lead to conflict are due to well-meaning people who can only see the world through their own eyes. We work with individuals and teams to see other perspectives, and to implement their own solutions that work for them.
We use our decades of experience to achieve results, and to bring people together towards common goals and interests – by doing this they achieve their own pragmatic results, driving accountability and cultural change.
Alongside pragmatism, we also have a number of other values critical to how we work:-
We’re honest and want to provide good value
– We will guide you towards the best solutions – not the most expensive
– We will never be the cheapest, but we aim to deliver the best quality at the best value for clients
– We will always be honest and would rather you didn’t spend money with us if what we offer isn’t the solution you need
– We aim to never be “salesy” in anything we do
We value customer service above anything else
– We want our clients to have a great experience with us.
– We want the parties in mediations to feel comfortable and get the best possible outcome for them.
– We want our mediation trainees to learn the best ways to mediate, to receive great coaching and to have fun!
– We value feedback and embrace continuous improvement.
We’re Accountable
– We want to be on that pitch with you sharing the pain – we don’t believe in preaching from the side-lines.
– We will never bombard you with theories – we won’t advise anything that we haven’t done, or can’t do, ourselves.
– We believe in root cause. We ask the right questions to understand people’s true beliefs, not just their positions.
– We value mistakes as often the most valuable experiences are the painful ones.
We’re Straight-Talking
– We will always give you honest views, warts and all – in a constructive and helpful way.
– We will use our experience to help you – we’ll share our own stories of success through people, and where we’ve made mistakes.
– We never shy away from difficult conversations. Leading people effectively takes hard work and sometimes difficult conversations.
– We’re fully transparent – from our own pricing, to how we feel things are working – we don’t believe in surprises.
We never give up
– Many situations we mediate are extremely tough.
– Parties in mediation regularly tell us they can’t imagine a solution being found. If they could see a solution they wouldn’t need mediation!
– Unfortunately there are many mediators out there who give up when things get tough. Not us!
– We will never give up – we work with parties even when there seems no hope, as we know there will always be a solution!
